Online auctions are still a fairly new way to supplement your income, but it is far from a plug and play type business. With that in mind, should you start an eBay business? Let's begin by asking a couple of seemingly basic questions:
How much time do I have to devote to an online business?
This is the first question to ask yourself because just as it is with a brick and mortar business, if you start an eBay business or any other business online it will take a good deal of time - especially at the beginning.
How seriously will you take your online business efforts?
Believe it or not, some people start an eBay business on a whim and then don't follow up with it at all. They place a couple of items up for auction and then ignore the site. If you don't plan to devote time each and every day to your work on eBay, it is not recommended that you even take the time to start a business on the Internet in the first place.
These two questions are basic but the answers can be quite revealing about whether or not you should entertain the idea of trying to become a seller on an online auction web site like eBay. If you don't have the time to devote to such an endeavor and you aren't going to take it as seriously as you would any other business, I don't recommend that you start a business on eBay at all.
