Authority tagging is not one of the most recognized SEO strategies out there, but it really works. This is a more elaborate form of social bookmarking.

But, after you’ve done it a few times it becomes extremely easy to do. And once you get good at it, you just repeat the procedure for every new site you want to get ranked.

What are the advantageous?

Clearly, social bookmarking is excellent for getting yourself ranked because of the back links created. However, it can also bring you boost your traffic as well. The task can be mundane and routine but if you are willing to do the work, the end result will be worth te effort.

What do you do?

It’s like regular social bookmarking. You first bookmark your site and blog posts onto your main Delicious account, and then add them to the best social networking sites. You also do this for your first, second and third tier pages.

What’s a three tier structure?

The first tier is pages from your website, the second tier is pages that link to your site, and the third tier is just pages from authority sites you link to. Remember to add all three tiers, because they are crucial for this strategy.

Don't forget to first bookmark all those pages within your Delicious account, and then submit them to the other social networking sites. After you have the main account setup, adding your links to each new site won’t take long.

However, you could just setup the bookmarks in all the accounts separately, if you want more control over which pages you add. However, this takes much longer because you would have to manually setup your bookmarks at each site. The whole beauty of authority tagging is that you just have to bookmark one page, so it is much faster than doing this individually.

And don’t forget to then locate the RSS feeds on each social site. Then you submit and ping them to the feed directories for some further “link juice.”

Then just repeat the process again.

You can do this same strategy faithfully as many times as you want, for as many sites as you want.

So does it work?

Many people have reported getting as many as 1000 visitors a day to a site that was getting none, after using this strategy. So it does work, it just requires time and effort. You might want to get 5-10 links a day. Don’t over do it, because the search engines like natural link building.
