I have compiled a list of eight ways to advertise your website or blog for free. This list consists of most popular and easy strategies available to get "free" traffic to your website or blog. There are other strategies available online but some, like Googles' Pay Per Click Progam can be extremely expensive.

Content Marketing or Article Marketing

Also know as "bum Marketing" online. There numerous article websites which allow you to post your articles free. By doing this you create back-links to your site. You will also get free advertising. Remember to use the "keywords" several times in your article and in the title also. Don't forget to add a link to your website and short bio about you and your business in the "author bio" box.

Free Classified Sites

You can use free classified sites for effective "free" advertising. Start by posting several ads a day and do not forget to compile the email addresses. Then you can add them to you list (if they subscribed to your newsletter or opt in offer) and market other products and services in the future.

Forums Related to Your Niche

Start writing articles in forums related to your niche. Then, start asking/answering questionsand posting enlightening and entertaining articles. Review the forum rules since each forum is different. Some allow links in your post and others only in the signature line. Remember, not to spam the forum with overt advertising and posts. Most forums allow your link in your signature section. There it will be shown with every thread or post you create.

Beware, since Google will disable your Adsense account if you use traffic exchanges. Use it only for affiliate ads or websites that do not have Adsense.

Blogs are great for article marketing. They are also extremely easy to set-up. You can even get a free blog through Blogger or Wordpress. Both of these options are awesome choices for newbies who have a limited budget.

Social Networks

Social networking sites will boost your traffic and sales. It's great for website ranking and promoting. Create profile pages in the largest social network sites like Facebook, Twitter and Myspace. Then expand to other social network sites.

Create a Hub Page or Squidoo Lens

These sites are a mixture of a blog and social networking site. They are free to set up and it's almost posting an article to a blogs. However, offer special features to promote your website or blog. Search engines love both Hub Pages and Squidoo, so you should get a flood of traffic to websites, blogs or affiliate programs that you are promoting.

As with any other business venture, the key to success when using these strateigies is determination and consistency. You have to remember your not going to get rich over night but you will see a significant boost in your website traffic and sales. But best of all, these eight website traffic strategies are free.
