Social media optimization (SMO) and search engine optimization (SEO) are compelling and effective tactics to use to enhance your business brand. Both of these tactics share one thing that connect them, they're content-driven which serves to attract new potential clients, increase website traffic and generate links.

Both strategies differ, in regards to user's motivation. For instance, when some one lands on your webpage through an search engine search, they're searching for a distinct product, service or information. Also they have a specific goal such as buying the product and service or just seeking more information related to their search. With social media it is the opposite.

People use social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Myspace to find informative and useful articles, connect with people and become part of a community or build a network. In other words, they don't know exactly what they are searching for but they hope to find something valuable and useful.

When you start brainstorming your SEO and social media marketing strategy, keep in mind, that these two tactics are connected but yet unique.

1. Your objective should be used as guide for your business marketing's course. Consider who is your audience, how do you contact them, what are they like? Ask yourself how they might like to be introduced to your brand or small business before your select specific tools to start your marketing course.

2. Do your research and plan accordingly, rather than aimlessly starting a flawed marketing strategy. Know specifically, what you need, and what you want. And ensure that your time and money are well-spent by pursuing a profit-generating business objective.

3. In order for you to succeed and prosper with social media and content-driven SEO, you must put effort into your marketing strategies. Lukewarm or lackluster attempts will be fruitless., "Content marketing is fantastic for SEO and social media, but it must be done right. You need to build dynamic and compelling social media relationships that benefit your business networking.

4. If you're contemplating outsourcing, hire an agency, make sure that you do your research for the most cost-effective option. "Don't always go with the lowest bidder or the highest one for that matter,".

Regardless of what you decide to invest, make sure that you're focusing on your ROI, because without the right strategy, you won't achieve any value. Don't leave this in the hands of other employees. "They are great for execution, monitoring, and follow-up, but you should handle high-level strategic planning.

5. Use analytics to get tracking results for marketing strategies. In other word, use data when measuring successes and shortcomings, select data points that best enhance the results that you want to achieve. When people locate your site through search engines, are they converting into registered users and leads? Is your Facebook page creating a community of devoted, loyal repeat visitors?

Don't ever measure your social media success on false pretensions like the amount of followers or fan count . This will doom your business' chance of succeeding. Ensure that all of your online efforts track back to a company goal. Is it sales, newsletter sign-ups, or increased Web traffic? Evaluate and determine how social media can contribute to increasing a particular company goal and go do it.

Social media and SEO are more about people than they are about key terms,"Social media and content marketing are about creating communities for compatible people to gather and share ideas. It's not just about cross-selling and pushing sales onto unsuspecting individuals or group.

You need to think in terms of people. Don't forget that you're dealing with people rather than reports, charts and contentious sales quotas.

Last, communication, trust and sharing are the key components of social media that people care about most. Build your brand by accepting your social media community.
