When it comes to internet marketing, you want to avoid all of the bad techniques out there that could potentially ruin your business. This is why you will want to diversify your marketing efforts, because if you just do one strategy, and that strategy dries up on you, what will be your plan for acquiring more traffic and sales?

Situations like that is due to bad advice. You hear some people say that all you need to do is stick to one marketing strategy and use it to the best of your ability until it stops working. Well if you subscribe to this way of thinking, you're setting yourself up to be putting all of your eggs in one basket - and this is something that you don't want to do.

Today I want to share with you a few things that I think should be avoided when it comes down to marketing your business on the internet. I use to think that these methods were the only way to earn a decent living online, but I soon realized that these tactics can do more harm than good. Let's take a look at the first thing that you shouldn't do when marketing your products online:

1) Spam

This is a big no-no. Spamming can get you into alot of trouble with authorities, and if you get caught, you could face some major consequences. Spamming isn't smart anyway because most peoples' spam folder has over hundreds of emails in them. I don't even bother to empty out my spam folder anymore. People still try to spam their way into my life, but I still persist to not let it happen.

There are better ways to promote your business online, and spamming is not one of them. If you're considering buying a list and planning on email to these people who have not given you permission to contact them, you face a chance to be standing in hot water at the end of it all. Here's something else you don't want to do.

2) Fake the testimonials

People have actually went to jail off of this. This is fraud, and is something that you definitely don't want to do if you want to make your business successful. If you want testimonials, sell the product as usual and wait until you have alot of customers who will give you their honest testimonials if you ask them to. You may even want to consider having them doing a video testimonial.

Or, you can give away free review copies to people on your list, and ask them to give you a testimonial on what they thought about your product. No matter how you do it, just do it. But be sure to stay away from fake testimonials.

Your business success is something that can be achieved if you follow the right path to doing so. Continue to use ethical and legal forms of marketing so that you can acquire leads and customers without any complaints or negative feedback. Stick with approved marketing strategies, and you will be good to go.

Good luck with using these tips to have success in your business.
