Here are some suggestions for locations for placing QR Codes for your business:

1. At Conferences and Conventions:

There is always so much information for attendees at conferences and conventions to digest. Think on your own experience visiting trade booths and carrying home bags filled with all sorts of trinkets designed to help you remember some product or service being promoted by a booth vendor.

Many people end up throwing away those trinkets without ever connecting with the firms that worked so hard to prepare these marketing packages. With a QR code you can share videos, product/service profiles, contact information and so much more without burdening your prospective customer with packages they don't need at that given time.

Once the QR code is scanned, your prospective customers can save the information in their Smartphones and contact databases for future easy retrieval when needed. You can place QR codes on almost anything. Placement on banners in various spaces at conferences and conventions is an excellent way to get your products and services noticed.

Banners at these events can be found in:

• Public spaces like the registration area and walkways (vertical banners are great here)
• Tables (registration tables, refreshment area tables, information tables)
• Even placement on t-shirts to be worn by delegates or staff - especially if you are one of the sponsors of the conference

2. At informal (or formal) Meet-ups:

Meet-ups is a term often used by individuals who typically have met in social networking forums and want to continue their discussions and exploration of shared interests with in-person meetings. These meet-ups are held practically anywhere but are usually business type affairs at restaurants or smaller business meeting venues.

Since attendees at Meet-ups tend to have shared interests in a particular topic or product you'll want to make sure you tailor the information you provide via your QR code to reflect the interests of this group.

If you're attending these events yourself you might consider putting your QR code on your own t-shirt and/or on your business cards. You might even want to be a sponsor for the Meet-up. Contact the organizers to see if they are accepting sponsorship and then negotiate with organizers a sponsorship benefit package that includes granting you permission to put up vertical banners or table top signs with your QR code at strategic locations throughout the Meet-up space.

3. At Local Businesses:

If you own a business operated out of a commercial office space, put your QR code on your door. Ensure that what you offer via the QR code provides succinct information about the location of your business; the hours of operation; the telephone number and; the URL to your website, should they want more information.

Another place to locate your QR code in a retail location (like a store or restaurant) is on the receipt. You might consider providing information on how customers can join your subscriber list for more information about specials and promotions. Local businesses like restaurants and retail outlets often have patrons who are repeat customers because they live or work close by. If that is the case they will want to know when your promotions are happening, so they can plan ahead, knowing already that they are a "fan" of your establishment.

4. In print advertisements:

Print advertisements in your local newspaper or in trade magazines can be very expensive and become increasingly expensive the larger the advertisement. You can control costs by placing smaller advertisements, however that will mean you will have less space to share with whatever graphics and text you need to make your point.

Additionally, if you are trying to push traffic to your website, sometimes the website address is just too awkward to list, especially if you have the misfortune of having a long website address or one that is hard to remember.

Sometimes this is unavoidable if your company name is a family name and you've decided you want the family name as your website address. In these instances, one-way to ensure your market has no trouble getting to your website is to include your QR code in your advertisement. That way all they have to do is scan it to get almost immediate access to your promotional website's page or coupon, etc.
