At some point, you will be ready to distribute your podcasts. Before posting them to the internet, it is important to make sure that your viewers will be able to open the files. As with other rich media formats, the ones dedicated to podcasting are platform dependent. This means that you may have to reformat your original file into several different formats so that you viewers can download one that will work with their hardware. Fortunately, many vendors offer free conversion tools that will make it easy to manage this process.
Once you have formatted your podcast files, you can use any number of methods to distribute them. Among other things, you can syndicate podcasts, and use RSS and Atom feeds to facilitate the process. If you are specifically interested in attracting audiences with mp3 players, you may also want to take advantage of iTunes and Zune platforms.
Many business owners today have ruled out podcasting because it looks too difficult. That said, as more businesses acquire the tools or other resources to create video content, podcasts are bound to be included in their offerings. As a result, this is the perfect time to begin formulating this type of content and reaching untapped consumer audiences.
