You've probably run across the term PLR at some point if you do any Internet marketing. You might not understand exactly what PLR is and how a PLR license differs from other licenses, such as Resale Rights or Master Resale Rights licenses. You need to understand the differences if you're going to use PLR products.

PLR can describe a range of products, including PLR blogs, PLR articles, PLR software or plugins, PLR ebooks and even PLR audio recordings. PLR refers to the product which might be something as simple as an article pack or it could be a complete business in a box product with blog, minisite, audio and or video recordings, and ebooks. It comes with a license that allows the customer to edit the product and use it as they see fit, with or without restrictions.

Someone else does all the work writing, designing, recording, programming and then puts it up for sale to many others, rather than using it themselves.

There are several ways to sell PLR. You can sell it in a membership based site or sell it to the public outright. There are benefits to both methods. Through a membership site, you might get a lot more product, but it may not be the niche you're interested in. Buying PLR directly through a sale that is publicly available allows you to choose the niches you want so that it doesn't end up as digital dust on your hard drive.

PLR products come with a license that tells you exactly what you can and can't do with the product. The best PLR products are those that come with the least restrictive licenses. It allows you to edit and redo the product and use however you want to use it, including claiming authorship, adding or deleting sections, and even selling it to your own customers at your own price, as if you were the original author of the product. Many PLR products do not allow you to resell it as is as PLR to others. Shop around for the best terms and read the licenses. If you don't like the terms, buy it somewhere else.

Another good thing to do is see if you can get a sample of the article text (or at least one of the articles) or blog post and run it through copyscape to see how many times it's already been used and indexed on the Internet. That'll give you a pretty good idea of how many of this item has been purchased.

Good PLR with relatively unrestrictive licensing can save you tons of time and money. For a small fee, you can get high quality, well designed and well written products that would normally costs a great deal more if purchased from a designer or ghostwriter.
