If you want to get the most out of your internet marketing campaigns, then you will want to avoid doing things that waste your time or are just downright useless. And trust me, there are alot of strategies out there that are like this. You will want to make it a point to generate targeted traffic to your website on a daily basis, so that you can build a thriving business that lasts and lasts.

In today's lesson, I want to share with you a few online marketing techniques that I think you should stay away from. These strategies waste time, and don't do anything to get you more traffic to your site. If anything, these strategies were devised to get YOU to visit other peoples' website so that it can boost their traffic, sales, and search engine rankings. So you have to be careful of who you're dealing with.

Here's the first marketing strategy that you will want to avoid doing in your business:

1) Classified ad sites

There was a time in the past where posting on classified ad sites was a very popular traffic strategy, but now it's become obsolete and doesn't work any more. I've heard people say that they would get about 300 hits per day to their website just using classified ad sites alone. But nowadays, the only people who are using classified ad sites are other marketers who want to promote their business also. So unless you're in the "internet marketing" niche... this won't be a good strategy for you.

Now I know that there's Craigslist, Ebay Classifieds, and USfreeads to choose from, but all of these sites (especially Craigslist) are easy to get sales with physical products. So if you have a downloadable product, it probably won't do well on Craigslist. Let's take a look at another traffic strategy that isn't effective when it comes to marketing your products and services.

2) Buying email mailing lists

There's a forum that I go to everyday and post on, and on one particular day, there was this guy who said he had 300,000 names and email addresses of people, and was wondering if he should get an autoresponder or not to market to these people. Now my immediate thought was, "How could you get 300,000 names and email addresses without an autoresponder, or sign up form?" Obviously this guy bought the list from somewhere, and was kindly suggested that he start from ground zero and build up a list the old fashioned way.

You don't want to buy email mailing lists. They could accuse you of spam, get you blacklisted, could cause your autoresponder service to ban you from ever using their service, and etc. Don't be like this guy - stick with driving people to your website as normally, and collect leads the old fashioned way. You'll get way more sales as opposed to if you bought the list.

These are 2 things that you definitely will want to avoid if you want to have the utmost success as possible in your online business. Take them and put them into action today.

Good luck with using these tips to earn you more money in your business.
