One of the biggest mistakes I made when just starting out my online business was not building an email list from the very beginning. I've always heard they saying: "the money is in the list" but have always stayed away from building my own lists partly because I didn't know how to start. 1. First Things First - The Money Is Not Just In The List, It's In The Relationship You Build With Your Subscribers
One of the biggest lies of internet marketing is that you can just drive traffic to a squeeze page and build up a large list of subscribers and make money. Unfortunately it is not so. As a matter of fact, there are marketers with thousands of email subscribers that are barely making ends meet.
You have to understand that your subscribers are real people with real emotions and real problems and you have to treat them as such. Send them valuable content that they can use to achieve positive results and get closer to their goals.
Once you develop a strong relationship with your subscribers, they'll see that you care about them and they will like and trust you and buy products that you recommend.
2. Building A List From Scratch
Start off by selecting a market that you are passionate about or have some interest in. Look for a common problem that people in this market are having. Now create a product that solves one problem people are having and then create a lead capture page to give away this product for free.
Note that even though you are giving away the product for free, the value should be at least $27 or more if you were to sell it.
3. How Do You Get Subscribers?
In order to grow your email list, you need to get your free report in front of people who would be in need of the solution that you are offering.
