Selling your website - where and to whom

The first choice that comes to mind is placing an ad in all the major websites for sale marketplaces:

• Flippa
• WarriorForum -> Sites for sale
• Digitalpoint Marketplace
• Domainname pros
• Godaddy auctions
• Sedo
• Ebay

You can also find brokers who already have a big list of potentially interested clients and would like to sell the website.


People who buy your website will buy it for page rank, age, content, subscribers, earnings, traffic.


If the website has earnings, the industry standard is that you can sell it for 12x the monthly earnings.


That's not always the best choice though.


You can and should try your hand first at finding who would be directly interested in buying your website. Maybe it's your direct competition, maybe people who are actively paying for traffic and would benefit from the free traffic your website has, maybe online stores that sell products that relate somehow to the people who visit your site. My advice is to reach out to these people first and only then publish your website for sale in the usual marketplaces. You'll be pleasantly surprised with how much money you'd be leaving on the table otherwise...
