A domain name. You can't start a website without a domain name. Try to choose something that's easy to remember, brandable. I recommend Namecheap for buying domains.
Hosting. Once you have the domain name, you need a hosting service where the website will be actually posted. I recommend Hostgator. It is cheap, and it will suit your needs, at least in the beginning when you don't have server melting traffic.
Wordpress. If you decided to purchase hosting off Hostgator, you can install your blog in just a few clicks with Fantastico. Wordpress makes blogging extremely easy.
Time & Patience. It may take some time to build an audience to your blog. It doesn't grow over night but you can grow it a little more every single day until you reach your goals. The easiest way to make money off your blog is Adsense, a Google service you can apply to. They post ads on your site based on the content you write and you get paid for every single click. A pretty good deal, don't you think?

Anything you do, or will decide to do is successful or not depending on whether you manage to get traffic to your website. It’s a challenge, but not one that you would have to face alone.
