How does Adsense work?

Adsense is a Google product. Essentially, when someone pays Google for advertising, they are willing to accept partners for a 70% cut of whatever the advertiser is paying for each click.

It's a move that makes sense. In order to have more exposure to ads, Google had to form a partnership with a vast number of website. There's only so many searches in a month and only ten possible spots for top advertisers for each query. Not much room to grow, but if you distribute your ads all over the internet on literally millions of sites, now that's total Internet domination.

A good move for Google, but really the system would not work if everybody involved was not happy. Advertisers get a lot of exposure for their ads (both on Search and Content Network - where Adsense publishers like you and me post ads on their sites), pay reasonably low prices per click and have high returns, Google has a cut of everything and it's very automated (good luck trying to reach a human on the support if there's a problem) and the publishers get paid premiums per click. There are no real Adsense alternatives for the moment (although Facebook and Bing may want to do something about it in the near future) so for the moment Google has monopoly on the web publishing world.
