Adsense pays their publishers 70% of what the advertisers pay them. Like mentioned above though, what they pay to appear directly in the search engine is a whole lot different than what they appear to show up in Google's partners websites.
The wrong way to assess things is to go directly to Google Keyword Tool and look at what advertisers are paying to appear in Google's search engine.
That tells you absolutely nothing about what you're going to get paid as an Adsense publisher.
If you want to do it the right way, then the only tool that will give you a somewhat accurate impression is google contextual targeting tool. You can easily look it up in your adwords account (don't worry, you don't have to pay in order to access it, you just need an account that has been activated for adwords).
The Google contextual tool will tell you how much are advertisers paying to show their ads on Adsense sites and what kind of bids Google suggests for best performance.
You can then extrapolate for your website that has maybe 1000 visitors a day, with a CTR of 7% that's 70 clicks a day, with a medium of 70% X $1 per click as showed by the contextual targeting tool, that's around $50 a day.
The math will not be always accurate, but the results are a lot closer to reality than basing your assumptions on the regular Google keyword tool.
