How do you feel when you are not getting freelance work eventhough you try hard?

I work as a virtual assistant in upwork and fiverr. Even though I try hard by putting proposals I don't get jobs which is really frustrating. I have a proven track record but not lucky enough to attract clients at the right time .

How many bids do you submit each DAY? That is a serious question.

Do you have a portfolio or description of your work that includes reviews from previous work?

Not sure what your question is... but I would 'feel' I'm not presenting myself well, not working hard enough to get jobs - or I'm looking for work in the wrong places.

It's better to consult Upwork/Fiverr support about this.

Coupe of questions is your complete profile filled out with your photo on Upwork?

When you submit a bid on Upwork are you asking for more money than what the proposal asks?

Are you sending proposals to the newest job listings or best match on Upwork?

Have you looked into Freelancer about being a virtual assistant?

Do you have a positive rating on those sites?

Everything makes a difference so please try to answer the questions above. This way we maybe able to help you.

I hire based on reviews. If you don't have any reviews yet or poor reviews that may be your problem.

The problem with freelance sites is that you are competing against a bunch of other people. The buyer often has no discernment so all they know to go for is the lowest price, since they think you are all the same.

Better to create your own outreach program. Make your ideal customer list. Reach out to them. So much more scary, I know, but you'll get over that if you keep doing it.

Just because there is a marketplace where people are sticking up their hands saying, "I'm buying! I'm here!" doesn't mean that it's the best for you, or even good for you. Competing against a ton of similar providers for the attention of buyers who don't know what they're buying doesn't set you apart. You can't charge your best pricing that way.

I've explained many times over the past decade plus how to do outreach. It amazes me how hardly anyone has the stomach to do it. You aren't spamming people. It's targeted. The worst they can say is, "No"... well, "Get lost!", really, and if they do that, you've found something about them regarding Personality Fit, haven't you...

...and to me, anyway, they usually say, "No thank you" when they don't want to hear more. Big deal. If you're in sales, and you are in sales, get used to it. One "Yes please" wipes out a thousand "No thanks".

You are responsible for filling your own pipeline of opportunities. Freelance sites are one way to help fill it, but you should not be relying on them. Especially if you have not learned the power of reframing opportunities and prestige pricing. But the number of opportunities coming your way through freelance sites is not going to be enough. Just look at how many job postings never hire anyone for. Someone's "just looking".

Get conversations with qualified prospects and you will make sales. Good sales. Keep the pipeline flowing. I have ignored this last sentence at my own peril over the years. Now I pay for someone to run the SOP and keep the leads coming in. Leaving it to chance or social media "reach" or someone else's opportunity to bid on a freelance site is a recipe for running out of opportunities fast.

EDIT: go to the Nothing Held Back Job Board and Digital Marketing Agency Success groups on FB. In there you can post that you are a VA looking for work. Make sure you read the group rules and follow them. Don't just blunder in there and start shouting. Follow the rules. There are proven 6 and 7 figure business owners in those groups who want to hire good help.

I think Upwork now has a feature which allows you to boost your bid and be placed in top 3, you can try that for a better chance at getting noticed.

You need to work on your portfolio to ensure that you're using all of the features that the freelancer platforms allow. You're competing with many other freelancers so you need to make sure you're presenting yourself as best as you can. Try to use visuals and testimonials where you can as this will appeal to people reviewing your proposals or account. Also, try to write personalized proposals for each job, mentioning the person by name and paying attention to their brief and how you and your skills can solve it.
Finally - be 100% sure that your spelling and grammar are correct in all areas as this is a turn off for many people reading about you.
