I am hoping to spark a little debate here with this observation so please feel free to join in.
I was thinking about everything I have learned over the last few years about IM and came to a bit of a realization last night.
I have read "Desperate Buyers Only" or portions of it anyway and I understand that its good to target those that need an immediate solution to their problem. So in thinking about markets I could target with desperate buyers in it I origionally targeted those with credit problems or needed loans. So I drove some traffic to a site about getting a loan and pointed to a Clickbank product about getting a loan. I made 3 sales!! very nice for minimal work, but I NEVER GOT PAID ON THOSE 3 DEALS. All 3 checks bounced and the sales were taken away from my account.
Last night I was going over some other posts in the forum and read about how one person was getting great traffic but hadn't made any sales yet, and the self improvement niche was mentioned. The statement was made "some niches just don't work."
So here is what this is all about...
When looking at niches, I thought that the people that your marketing to need to have money. What I mean by that is this... If you need a loan, like the first niche I went after, then you probably don't have any money or any discressionary money, so it's no wonder those checks bounced. Also when I thought about the self improvement niche I thought "Well if your not happy with yourself you probably don't have much money either because if you were happy with yourself you would probably see yourself as 'successful' and most successful people aren't concerned about bettering themselves. They are already successful."
I know this may sound like common sense but I think many of us look right past the obvious and only see half the picture.
So what do you personally think
