Importance of Business Development in online marketing

As a Business Development manager. I was researching for the past two years on online marketing to know how I can use online marketing to develop business. I have spoken to online marketers, clients and studied numerous articles on online marketing. But I have noticed that unfortunately many online marketers just help customers build traffic to sites or get a page ranking. But they face a lot of difficulty in generating income for the websites.

I would like to suggest online marketers to learn importance of business development. They should realize that marketing will be successful only when it is targeted. Oh! I didn't mean the targeted "key word" but I mean to target customer.
