My Biggest List Building Mistake!

Building my list has been my priority from day 1 (in fact, when I understood the power of list building).
I've build a list of more than 2000 with free traffic techniques as a beginner.
I must admit that paid traffic strategy are faster, and scalable. I only started these strategies after I created my own products.
Don't laugh, but back in the days, when I got started with safelists and other crazy traffic exchanges, I remember wondering why people weren't buying my affiliate offers. I didn't know that people were using these things to build their list.
At that time, some of these sites were really popular. If you are in the IM game for a long time I'm sure you remember Adswarms.
Building your list is really important if you want to make a full time income online. I'm not saying that you can't make money without a list, but it's much better, and also safer and wiser to build lists in your market.
So what is my biggest list building mistake?
I failed to understand that a small list of 300 buyers can be more lucrative than a list of 5000 freebie seekers.
In fact, I knew it, but I didn't really understood.
Now that I know, it's easier to make $1 per subscriber. In fact, you can make way more than that when you finally get list building.
