Could backlinking ever become "sexy"?

I just purchased the WSO of the day. Yes, I get the daily emails and this is the first one I have bought in 2011!
Why? Genuine people, cheesy videos, lots of rave reviews...but mainly because it is about something I love...backlinking!
No, not very sexy, and certainly not very exciting.

I didn't read all the sales letter - I just thought, backlinking = link juice = authority = expert status = traffic = sales.
I am a shallow and mercenary. And very into backlinking. I really do like getting high search engine rankings. Every little helps.
