We, that is, as a country. Russia is invading and defeating a smaller neighbor, Georgia. We have told the world that we are allies with Georgia, yet all we do is make demands that Russia retreat and send aid to Georgia. Is this going to work? No, it won't work and it sends the wrong message to the world. It makes the USA look weak and uncommitted to helping our allies when they need us.
We can't ignore world events and hope for the best. History will tell you that that never has worked out. Aggressors depend on countries to hesitate long enough for them to do their dirty work.
When your neighbor calls and screams that he is being attacked and needs your help, do you send him a can of beans?
