Creating Optimism - side note

Just one quick pithy side note:
I recall reading of a zen master who said, "It is easy to meditate in a quiet place, like a forest or by a river. It is quite another to meditate when a fist is about to smash your face."
Optimism during good times requires nothing of us. No spine. No mental fortitude. No positive imagination.
Optimism during a hurricane (whether weather or financial)? Now that is where you find out what you're really made of.
