Time to sell?

Posted 04-26-2011 at 09:22 AM by bfas

I have a few sites that have been around for a while and served me well. In particular, a site in the cheap auto insurance niche, which has extremely high EPC's.

Around the same time, I built a site on homeschooling which has done well.

I'm thinking it's time to 're-invigorate' these sites with some new backlinking efforts, and flip them. My feeling is that within a few months I can have them back to their top performance, at which point they could fetch a very nice price....

SERPs Slips?

Posted 11-02-2010 at 01:13 AM by bfas

I've been seeing a lot of "SERPs slips" lately - don't know if it has anything to do with Google changes, or some changes in my backlinking routines. For my Latina dating site, Mexican mail order brides seems to be bouncing around a lot. However some other sites with similar age/comp./backlinking, etc., seem unaffected.

I've decided that I'm going to try some very 'structured' efforts in an attempt to nail down some new procedures. I've also started setting up some 'feeder'...

Interesting Adwords problem

Posted 09-07-2010 at 01:32 AM by bfas

I built a site around Beginner Witchcraft. It's a quality site in that I'm posting quality, unique, original content. I have one pre-sell page that promotes a Clickbank product, but when trying to run an Adwords campaign, I get a Poor 1/10 QS score for it. I'm hearing it is because the subject matter.

I'm building another site, similar in that it is quality original content, but because of it's subject matter being Mexican Brides, I wonder if I'll have problems with Adwords.

Lateral thinking?

Posted 08-29-2010 at 02:10 AM by bfas

I have plenty of sites in 'secondary' niches, as well as a few in more 'primary' areas. Lately I'm switching my focus a bit to more 'lateral' niches.

Specifically, I launched a site talking about abundance and biblical prosperity. And as someone in the market, I figures I could leverage my search for homes for sale in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Nothing earth-shattering, but at least a departure from the "usual suspects"!

More on "ugly sites"...

Posted 07-11-2010 at 11:51 PM by bfas

Ok, we'll accept the fact that sometimes 'ugly' sites do better, particularly if you're trying to keep the focus on ads.

Similarly, there is huge opportunity in 'uncomfortable' sites, such as Potty Training Girls, a site who's topic or theme is less competitive because most marketers just aren't going there.

Similarly, my Homedics Back Massager site isn't 'uncomfortable', but offbeat enough that the same thing applies.
