5 Must Have WordPress Plugins for April

1. Akismet - Stop Comment Spam and Trackback Spam Akismet

Akismet is a great plugin. It’s a collaborative effort to help stop comment and trackback spam from reaching your blog by automatically filtering it into your spam section. However, it can be a bit touchy at times, filtering out good comments so be sure to check your spam comments section and approve the good ones.

2. CommentLuv - Home

A great plugin that coincides with your blog if you have the dofollow plugin installed. This allows registered blogs on the CommentLuv site to automatically have their latest blog post detected and posted in their comment, thus showing “luv” to your readers. Definitely a must have, as I myself use it on this blog itself!

If you want an integrated image gallery for your wordpress, this is definitely the plugin to use. NextGEN gallery is a fully integrated gallery plugin for your wordpress with a great flash slideshow feature that is optional. Unlike most image gallery plugins for wordpress, NextGEN has a tight backend panel to control multiple images, galleries and albums.

4. Get Recent Comments - WordPress › Get Recent Comments WordPress Plugins

If you like showing recent comments on your blog, you should try this plugin out. This plugin shows the most recent comments or trackbacks on your blog sidebar. Another great feature of this plugin is the ability for you to have full control of the appearance. The plugin also has filters, letting you filter out and seperating the comments from the trackbacks or even ignore comments from a certain category.

5. IntenseDebate Comments - WordPress › IntenseDebate Comments WordPress Plugins

This is an interesting plugin. It enhances and encourages actual conversations on your blog. It has a ton of features such as comment threading, reply-by-email, user accounts and user reputations, comment voting and ability to feed into Twitter or FriendFeed. Database syncing between the plugin and wordpress ensures you always have your comments.
