Everybody who is a success in life and in business occasionally suffers from a lack of self confidence.

As you progress on your journey toward any kind of success, you are going to have days when your self confidence is non-existent. You want to help people and care about them, but you just feel inadequate. And the funny thing is that it comes when you are having the most awesome time, results wise in your career and your life.

You start to second guess yourself. Am I doing it right? Should I be doing something differently? Am I even on the right path?

You can easily start to feel this way when you look on Facebook. You see all of these posts by people showing their results and pictures of their fabulous lifestyles. You never, or I should say rarely, see them post their insecurities and self-doubts.

For all of us, there are going to be days when our self confidence is down in the gutter.

We have to remember that self confidence will waver and that is why it is not a great indicator of success. Self esteem on the other hand is a great indicator of success.

Self esteem in rooted in the value that we place on ourselves as human beings.

Self confidence is rooted in achievement.
Protect and Defend Your Self Confidence and Your Self Esteem

These are our two most important attributes if we are looking to be successful at anything. When they waver, then we start to pull ourselves away from fulfilling our purpose in life.

There are going to be those times when we have that lack of self confidence, even when we know that we are totally on track to our goals. It's okay to feel it and even to spend a short period of time in it but you have got to, then, pull yourself out of it no matter what it takes.

The difference between victors and victims is that barrier that they erect that defends their self confidence and the self esteem against all of the barbs thrown at them by the naysayers of the world.

Believe You Make Great Decisions

Your ability to make great decisions is another area that you have to fiercely protect and defend.

When you can make a decision, you know the direction you are heading with your life. You get the hit of dopamine that says you're awesome and that you stand behind your dream.

But, you must also decide to take action on that decision.

Action takers win. Period. End of story.
Self confidence and decision making are interrelated. When we are put in a new situation, it is much more difficult to believe that we have the ability to make the right decision.

The funny thing about the inability to make a decision when our self confidence is at low ebb is that it is either caused by us having too little or too much information.

In life and in business, we have to make a lot of decisions when we don't have the answers to all of the questions that we have.

Too much information is usually caused by us having too broad of a focus. This will lead us to being overwhelmed by information and become hesitant to make a decision.

We have to define and get clear on our vision and our purpose to insure that we can live with the decisions that we make. Decisions have to be in alignment with our core values, with who we are and what we believe in. They should never be based on the opinions of others.

Sometimes we just have to drum up the courage to make decisions on what we want, what is right for us.

Take some time and look at the areas where you have the highest and the lowest levels of self confidence and ask yourself why this is so.

Start doing more of the things that you are confident about. Start tapping into that self confidence to make your decisions. Start trust yourself and know that you do make sound decisions.
