Search Engine Optimization-Black Hat or White Hat?

I was reading a thread just last night night from supposed SEO guru talking about his secret way to earn money on the Internet. He had placed a link in the Warrior Forum thread, which, by the way, is just not something to do. He only had done two posts, which told me that he was your typical drive by forum poster. He had no interest at all in engaging and interacting with the other members of this forum. He was just out to post his special little SEO link that people needed so badly, oh yes, for the discounted price of $39.95!
This type of advertising is widespread on the Internet, to be assured. People and organizations making claims that cannot back up. So, just for kicks and giggles I visit his secret one of a kind SEO site. I saw the usual bolded and highlighted text, which told me that he was yet another fake it until you make it example of how NOT to run a successful business on the Internet.
I dug just a little deeper, and went to Alexa.com and did a check on that site. He did, in fact, have about sixty odd backlinks; however, almost all of the backlinks pointed to black hat forums and sites. Right there, was enough to tell me that this carnival show barker fell into an exact match that most in the SEO industry today do. That is, they are all out their pitching and making claims about their one of a kind SEO program that you need, in order to get your sites listed quickly on Google. Its just another prime example of how NOT to approach the Internet at all!
There are people and organizations in the SEO industry today that work hard to provide the best in site design, traffic generation and professional profile branding on the Internet. We have to compete against all these self-proclaimed SEO legends each and every day.
So, the inevitable question is this. Black hat or White hat SEO? The answer for me is quite obvious! Its white hat all the way!
