Affiliate Marketing Without... Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is one of the specialties within internet marketing. Affiliate marketers may or may not have their own products. Normally affiliate marketers send interested visitors through an affiliate link to someone else’s site. And once the visitor buys the product, and the affiliate marketer collects the commission. Sometimes, the affiliate marketer captures the visitors email address prior to forwarding them to the affiliate URL. This is a good idea, because then the affiliate marketer then may follow up and offer similar affiliate products to the customer.

Now, how do you market affiliate products without marketing affiliate products? Well, there are many many ways to market without marketing, but the basic thought is giving something valuable away for free with your affiliate links embedded or displayed. Let's explore some of these techniques.

First let's explore redirecting visitors based on the domain name. Search for domains with good type in potential or domain misspellings. A word of caution on the misspellings, you'll be unable to use Goggle adwords to drive traffic. My favorite way to implement this strategy is to use common misspellings of "guru" names. I have one that rakes in money every month from affiliate sales. Of course, you may want to clear it with your favorite guru first. I have the Yanick Silver domain name. It's a fairly common misspelling of Yanik's name. I spoke with Yanik at one of his Underground(r) seminars about using it. So now, every month I receive an affiliate payment from Yanik. Pretty cool, huh?

Ebooks with affiliate links - Locate an article set for which you have rights to edit and distribute. Search affiliate sites for relevant products of interest to someone reading your ebook. Create your affiliate links and embed the links in the ebook. With your completed ebook, you can distribute it freely - (depending on your rights) and start building your residual passive profits. Depending on your rights to the articles, another inherent revenue stream is allowing others to brand the ebooks with their affiliate links and distribute them as well.

Software with affiliate links -Very similar in nature to the aforementioned ebook, except you pay a programmer at one of the freelance sites to create your software and prominently display your affiliate links. These links should be redirected through on of your site using one of the redirect strategies mentioned a little later. This is your safety net, just in case; the product owner decides to drop the affiliate program. You then can reroute the traffic to another site by changing your redirect code. You may view this technique in action at http://www.resellrightsgoldrush.com in the bronze level membership.

Video with auto redirect to affiliate site - There are a few ways you can achieve this. The most visible in internet marketing today is using a screen capture software called Camtasia from TechSmith. You may download a 30 day trial of this software from Download Camtasia Studio 30-Day Trial . During the process of adjusting the settings for creating the final video, one of the settings in Camtasia is a "Jump to URL" that you would set to your affiliate URL. Basically, once the movie has completed running for your visitor, they are automatically redirected to the url you specify; your affiliate URL.

Kevin Riley created a series of step-by-step e-books recently on creating and promoting affiliate links with video through a promotional URL. Now, in Kevin's ebook he shows screen shots with his videos ranking 8 of the top 10 on Google's front page for a search of his keywords. Impressive? I think so. Now, let's look at several ways to redirect your visitor. Using these, you can redirect visitors viewing any video to any url you specify. In a nutshell, they are called javascript or meta tag refresh redirects.

Javascript Redirect - Replace "your affiliate URL" with your actual affiliate url and place in your web page before the <body> tag. Now, if your visitors javascript is disabled, this will not work. This is the method I use at Yanick Silver .

<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
window.location = "http://www.your affiliate URL.com"
//-->
</script>

Timed Javascript Redirect - Replace "your affiliate URL" with your actual affiliate url. Replace the "8000" with the number of milliseconds (1 second = 1000 milliseconds) to wait before sending your visitor to your affiliate URL, or in other words, how long the video runs in milliseconds. And place in your web page as shown below. Now, if your visitors’ browser javascript is disabled, this will not work.

<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function delayer(){
window.location = "http://www.your affiliate URL.com"
}
//-->
</script>
</head>
<body onLoad="setTimeout('delayer()', 8000)">
<h2 >After watching this video, you'll surely want more information. </h2>
<p>So, sit back and enjoy this video, after it's over, we'll send you to a site with more information!</p>
</body>
</html>

Meta Tag Refresh - Replace both instances of "your affiliate URL" with your actual affiliate url and place in your web page between the <head> and </head> tags. Once you determine the running time for the video, change the "0" to the number of seconds the video runs and once that number of seconds is completed, your visitor is automatically redirected to your affiliate URL.
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://www.your affiliate URL.com">
</head><body>
If you are not redirected in 0 seconds...<a href="http://www.your affiliate URL.com/">click here</a>!
</body></html>
