Redefining my Small Business Consulting to Marketing Consultant

Posted 05-30-2009 at 02:12 PM by Chris Endres

I made a shift in my consulting model and I like it.

I realized I was not fully comfortable with the title Small Business Consultant. I guess it sounded to broad for me. I don't really know or care too much now that I have found the glove that fits the hand so to speak.

I now present myself to local businesses as a marketing consultant. Pretty easy. I tell people I can help them with their marketing, and I am now offering a $97 (reg. $197) customized marketing plan for their business.

What does this really do? Well, basically marketing is the pain people want healed as far as I have found. When they talk about it, even the ones who seem to have an idea of what they are doing can only go so far before they either go off on a tangent or lose track.

Meaning they only have so much skill where marketing is concerned. Being a business owner and wearing all 6 hats that run the business is like that though, efficient at best, mastering almost nothing.

I have a flyer that is working pretty well for getting people to buy into the marketing plan idea, but to get that you have to be a member of the toolkit forum

The cool thing about the marketing plan is all the different ways I have recently found to brand a business. I have also found instant sales concepts using SMS.

It's fun because each business needs a slightly different answer so you get to build a plan that really works but is not cookie cutter, keeping your learning curve growing.

Who needs a match?
