MyHusbandNeedsaJob.com: Great Idea, but GoDaddy Is Making a Killing

I hopped over to CNN this morning and saw a great story. We know that this economy is rough, and people’s bank accounts are suffering.

Robin Stearns, a loving wife in San Francisco, California, decided to make a website for her husband, Michael, who needs a job.

The website is call MyHusbandNeedsaJob.com. But here is the kicker.

When you type in the domain name WITHOUT the “www”, you are taken to a parked GoDaddy page full of advertisements. It is only when you enter the domain name WITH the “www” that you are taken to the correct website.

So, to see the new site, go to www.MyHusbandNeedsaJob.com.

The problem with this is that GoDaddy is probably making a killing off of this “error”, as DomainNameWire agrees. Why someone at GoDaddy can’t point this out to them and help them fix it is beyond me. I suppose they see a real opportunity here to make some serious money in a down economy.

And why not? The term is the #1 most-searched term right now on Google Trends. You can just hear the interest accruing.

    Thanks for the info for people like me who do not really know the technicalities of internet advertising. No wonder the rich get richer and like me, the uninformed, gets poorer. Again, thank you Chris.
