Man Sells Blog for $15 Million

It’s time for a moment of inspiration. Breaking news this morning that Bankrate has acquired Bankaholic.com for $15 million.

Bankrate has agreed to pay $12.4 million up-front, and an additional $2.5 million possible payout over the next year. Bankaholic has just one employee, John Wu, who will stay on and assist with the transition.

The blog currently has Alexa ranking of 42,168 and averages about 15 comments per post...

LiveSearch: Desperate for Attention?

Microsoft has unveiled yet another tactic to try and get web surfers to use LiveSearch. Today, comes word that they are launching SearchPerks.

Microsoft’s latest strategy gives web searchers points when they use LiveSearch, which can be redeemed for prizes. Users who sign-up before the December 31 deadline, must agree to download a small program that tracks their usage. Once installed, the users will get one “ticket” per day for every LiveSearch query.

Google 2001: A Search Odyssey

Have you seen Google 2001? Google turns 10 years old this month and, as part of the festivities, Google will let you search the web as it looked in 2001, using GOOGLE as it looked in 2001.

It’s kind of trippy to see the old Google logo, not to mention that reading CNN.com’s headlines from 2001 also seems a little surreal. Can you believe that, at the time, Google had only indexed 1,326,920,000 pages? lol...
