Confessions of a serial marketing addict,

I've had my share of businesses, buying, building, selling. In the end, there's been no doubt that it's the marketing that drives a business to success.
But all the marketing in the world, wouldn't do a damn bit of good if you don't have a product to sell. Well,... except in one little niche industry, which is list building. Building lists seems to be the most powerful business model I've encountered, online or offline. But online, lists are the ultimate commodity.
Is it safe to assume that a list is more important than all other forms of traffic combined?
A list, when built properly, is highly targeted, and is like a laser gun compared to all the other means of traffic. Plus, if it's someone else's list, it's endorsed. So if you have a list, just by 'endorsing' someone else's product as their 'affiliate', you probably stand to make the most amount of money for the least amount of work.
Ironically, this is the one area of my business that I have neglected, though, I have no idea why. I made it my mission in 2009 to put more effort into building my list. By the end of February, I finally devoted a couple of days to actually doing it.
Results from approximately two hours a day of little 'blackhat' trick: 24 people on my list.
But I will continue.
-the end
