Sally's new to making money online

Posted 12-22-2008 at 06:13 AM by Craig Desorcy

Here is something a lot of people do when they get started online and I am telling you the following story so it serves as a warning and encourages you to take the bull by the horns every single time it's called for...

Sally reads her very first "Make Money Online In Three Easy Steps" sales letter. She is sold and buys.

Sally downloads all the guides, audios and videos and starts on her path to riches. When she gets to step three of the Get Rich Quick included blueprint she finds out she's going to have to learn FTP. "Oh well" she says, and gets into it but then she feels bad because the "Make Money Online In Three Easy Steps" sales letter said nothing about this. "Oh my, this is hard work and the technology is not EASY at all" she cries.

Sally soon gives up on her first go at "Make Money Online In Three Easy Steps" and moves on to a new letter promising this is all easy and the other sales letters are just telling lies! Again, she goes through the same frustration with FTP and moves on once again.

At this point Sally is reading five "Make Money Online In Three Easy Steps" sales letters a day and is thoroughly convinced in her heart there must be a true "Make Money Online In Three Easy Steps" system because all the letters are saying so.

After three months of reading sales letters, buying most of what is offered and getting no where fast, Sally feels foolish and on top of her emotional turmoil Sally is terrified because her credit card bills are due and all the money is gone.

Now if Sally just stuck to the first program, she may have learned two things...

1. This works but it's not easy.

2. This works and it's too hard so I'm out.

I believe it was 15 years ago or more when I heard Tony Robbins say in one of his Power Talk CD's, "Your ability to learn and apply what you learned at lightning speed is the single most important skill you can have or should develop."

This is where many just starting out marketing online drop the ball.

I just got off the phone with a coaching client and was taken back by her response to one of my questions.

I asked, do you have a GMAIL account? And the answer? "I tried that and just could not figure it out." I wondered what's going to happen when it's time to FTP files to her server.

This is a major problem because if you can't or won't figure out how to use the tools needed for this business, you have no business.

I know it's hard... Most of the time for me it is, I just do it hard. And if it's hard for you, I suggest the same and so be it.

If you find all this stuff hard, welcome to the party. And yes, you've been lied to... All these so called GURU'S are leaving out conveniently that a lot of this stuff is hard. Oh well, let's not go there today.

Two days ago I opened a new S3 account. This is Amazon's new hosting service where you can host your videos and other files for pennies on the dollar. Why I wanted this is because no matter how many people watch my videos, there will be no slow time or down time. Can't do this with the kind of hosting account most of us have.

Anyway, I hit a snag and found myself posting questions in forums, Googling like crazy and just getting very frustrated but I did not give up. Next day, I found the issues and fixed them. Now I am using my S3 account with ease.

My main point to all this is, you have to learn real fast and apply what you learned even faster if you're going to make this marketing online stuff work for you.

Trying to get some technology working and it's just not happening? Drop to the floor and do some push ups. Post in forums, search Google with the problem you're having. Chances are, someone else has already been there and done that. Do what ever it takes but get it done. This will put you in the winners group online not the whiners group.
