What's the difference between guest blogging, guest posting and article marketing?

Semantics, really.
Guest blogging is when an article you’ve written appears on someone else’s blog. You are referred to as the ‘guest blogger’ in this situation.
Guest posting is another way of saying guest blogging. A ‘post’ being the article that appears on the blog.
Article marketing is what you do when you’re trying to get your content (articles) on a website other than your own.
So guest blogging/posting is simply a form of article marketing. And although you didn’t ask, I think guest blogging is one of the best forms of article marketing out there. Way better than submitting your content to a site like EzineArticles.com.
Let’s look at the bottom line here
When you submit your content to an article directory like EzineArticles.com (hereby referred to as EZA), it’s a major crapshoot whether anyone will see your article, click on it, and then click through to your website.
EZA is a gigantic directory that gets hundreds of articles a day from people who can optimize content in a drunken sleep. Even with the skill of an SEO ninja, it may take a dozen or more articles before you hit one that actually generates a decent amount of traffic and clicks.
Now I didn’t say it was unimaginable. I’m sure there are several people here on the Warrior Forum who’d be happy to flash their awesome statistics my way. But it has gotten to a point where it is a lot harder than it used to be to generate traffic from EZA. I think we can all agree on that point.
Guest blogging isn’t without its faults
Like any form of marketing, it’s entirely possible to be a guest blogger and not get any traffic. However, when you guest blog your article is automatically going to a site that’s targeted for your niche. By default the cards are automatically stacked in your favor.
Furthermore, guest blogging on one niche site flings open the door to guest blogging opportunities on other niche sites. Once you get that snowball rolling, it gains momentum.
One guest post can lead to another and another and yet another. And they’re ALL on niche specific websites. Backlinks from targeted websites tend to have more search engine rank juice than backlinks from untargeted websites.
Is this the pending death of submissions to article directories?
I doubt it.
Guest blogging is competitive. Only a limited number of articles can be accepted at any given time by a single blogger. And most blogs don’t accept guest posts every day of the week.
But for those of you who are at the top of your content development game, guest blogging presents a primo opportunity to gain coveted backlinks and clicks from prospective buyers.
