As an Online Marketing Consultant I've learned some killer strategies to drive traffic. One of the strategies I often use for myself and my clients is ranking YouTube videos on the first page of Google. I’ve found that YouTube videos are much easier to rank than websites, and if there’s not a lot of competition I can rank a video on the first page in about two weeks.

Keep in mind this applies mostly to local based keywords. Broader keywords like “internet marketing” would take a lot more time and effort. But even if you can’t get a video to the first page of Google, you can increase it’s exposure within YouTube itself.

Alright, let's begin.

Once your video is created you want to save it as your keyword for the name. So “InternetMarketing.avi” for example. Then upload to YouTube and include your keyword in the title, description, and tags. You also want to include 3 or 4 similar keywords in the description and tags. So in this case I would use the words “internet marketing strategies”, “internet marketing tips”, and “online marketing”.

The first thing you should do is post your video to your social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.

Next I log into my free account at YouLikeHits and input my video details. YouLikeHits is a social exchange network and you can use the service to get thousands of views, likes, and subscribers quickly. These views won’t convert well but they will increase your view count which will raise your ranking within YouTube and Google. I usually request 1,000 views and I’ll also request about 20 ‘likes’.

After that I build some backlinks to the video. I start out with social bookmarking links (here are the Top 15 Social Bookmarking Sites). After that I’ll add a couple links from Web 2.0 properties and article directories, and also embed the video wherever I can.

It usually takes about 2-4 weeks to rank for local keywords. If your video doesn't rank within that time frame you may just need to create more backlinks. I say “may” because there are so many variables with search engine optimization. If you plan to implement this strategy I suggest studying SEO so you know how to choose the right keywords and know what kind of backlinks you should create.

Also please use this strategy for good and not for evil! Make sure your video is good quality and adds value to YouTube and Google. If you use a low-quality spam-looking video you will get banned and this will be a waste of time for you.
