Think of yourself as a broker:
you want to sell what people want to buy, bottom line.
- What can you sell: your web, video, marketing, writing or other services, your own products, other people's stuff?
- Where will you find buyers: Search engines (PPC), web marketing (articles, blogging, press releases, link building, leads capture pages, etc.), offline marketing, networking on social sites, networking offline, etc?
Build around that staying in your own budget (free is fine to start, then pay to lose ads or move your content to paid space) and grow it, using keywords in the industry that your shoppers will recognize.
