Tips for Hiring a Personal Assistant / Virtual Assistant with a Team! (pt 2)
Posted 3rd November 2008 at 05:21 AM by dbarnum
Once you have a list of outsourcing teams and individuals you’d like to interview to help with your projects, you need to develop a ‘short list’ of the best ones you’d like to offer a trial period. Review Part 1 and then continue below.
Start Interviewing
Keep it simple using email to reach out. Ask a couple questions about their skills, experience, rates / pricing, etc. to basically test for reply time and quality of your response. After the first reply, if all sounds good, go ahead with a basic task for an agreed amount to see if the VA and their team follow through – and in a timely manner.
If you are trying to hire for a more in-depth project, you may want to also interview via phone or chat, Skype works best. Then agree to a portion of the work – a week to a month of tasks with M-F check in emails, to get things moving.
With outsourcing, keep in mind you are buying services from others, not actually “hiring” employees. So pre-paying; i.e. paying in advance, is common, because the company needs to pay outsource team members throughout the month.
There are some things to stay alert for during this trial period. Find out more here:
Part 3 / End of Series.
