This is my first post on my blog and I really hope you find it useful and informative.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few months. You may have heard that Google have recently changed their algorithm by basically downgrading what they call content farms. What's a content farm? I think wiki describes this the best:

"In the context of the World Wide Web, the term content farm is used to describe a company that employs large numbers of often freelance writers to generate large amounts of textual content which is specifically designed to satisfy algorithms for maximal retrieval by automated search engines. Their main goal is to generate advertising revenue through attracting reader page views"

The new algorithm change helps sites which have;

* Original non-copied content
* Sites that have actually applied some type of research on chosen topic
* Webmasters/authors that present an In-depth analysis
* Showing viewers basic or a detailed report of chosen info.

Google basically penalised anyone that wasn't doing this.
My advice and some basic tips:

1. If you're promoting a specific product, try to place original content on your site and avoid auto-content generating copy-cat articles.

2. Continue to backlink your websites, but be wise in what service you use. Only use respected tried and tested services. Please feel free to send me a pm for the service companies I use.

3. Post content regularly and get your clients/viewers to comment and re-tweet your content. Google is now big on communities.

4. I've mentioned bounce rate on a few forums recently, and I truly believe that this is an overlooked seo tactic people are missing.

Bounce rate (sometimes confused with exit rate)[1] is an Internet marketing term used in web traffic analysis. It represents the percentage of visitors who enter the site and "bounce" (leave the site) rather than continue viewing other pages within the same site.

The formula used to calculate bounce rate is:

Bounce rate = total number of visits viewing only one page / total number of visits

What I've started doing is going into my google analytics account and going through every page and post that has a high bounce rate and will either delete them if the page/post isn't important, or simply edit them by adding a relevant video, audio or quiz etc.

5. Improve your re-visit rate. This is basically getting people to re-visit a page after the 1st visit. This can easily be done if you have an autoresponder where you send a series of messages to people on your list. Simply write an informative email and send them to the relevant page/post on your website.
