Continuing the journey--Site No. 8

This is a post to recognize that persistence pays off. I think that most of us know that if you keep doing something over and over, one day a switch goes off in your mind that says you finally "know" how to do it. I think that this is something like the process that happens when you are learning to tie your shoe laces (if you wear those kind of shoes in your country). The workflow of setting up an auto-responder is not hard when it comes to the actual steps for the vendor that you have chosen. The hard part is making sure you test it so that it works the way you think it's supposed to work for the subscriber to your list. I just think that it must be one of the areas that once you get it, no one who is trying to explain it to you can remember what it was like not to know how to do the set up. A few steps that helped me however, are the following:
1) get an account with a provider who has a help desk or a good frequently asked questions section;
2) map out to yourself in note form or diagram what it is you are trying to have happen when someone signs up for your list--are you giving away something?
3) check that the whole process works in the browsers that come to your site ----arrrghh---this can be quite a problem
4) get some friends to test.
5)check it one last time;
6)leave it alone after it starts working!
This has been my process so far. Hope your summer hasn't been quite as hot as mine but that you are having a great time. Later.
