Still more on Site No. 8 and traffic generation

So, I recently discovered submitting my site to directories for free right now. What does "directory submitting" mean? Per google "A submission of a web site, its address, and description to a directory that allows submission by site owners." It apparently is a list of websites maintained under various topics that folks and search engines come to find topics that are being searched for. The directory itself becomes one of the links to your site--cool, huh? And why, might you ask, would you want links to your site? You want links to your site to help with the ranking of the site by the search engines--which is a good thing to help bring traffic to your site! These links also cause people to spend a lot of money in order to get ranked by search engines. But that's a whole nother topic for someone else to cover cause I'm still "learning as I go."
