A two week Blog break and a row with an outsourcer

You have probably been wondering what has happened to my regular as clockwork Blog posts as I haven’t posted to this Blog since the first week in March. The truth is I have been working very hard of other businesses and this Blog posts is one part of the business like my Ezine, that I would NEVER outsource.
Though there are a lot of things that I would outsource I like to keep a very personal feel on both of them and not to mention I love writing them too!
I decided that I wanted to have some changes made to my Blog as I often have a very bad case of OCD and need to change things regularly. (my main website is now on it’s fifth theme). I just wanted a few small changes doing so that it was a lot more unique to me and not just like everyone else that is on this theme.
I therefore hired an assistant through my favourite outsource company [URL="http://www.odesk.com/"]Odesk.com[/URL] and looked forward to them making a few changes for me.

[B]Then the problems began….[/B]
First of all the first couple of jobs they did for me were OK, even though she seemed to take longer than what I would expect.
However when we moved on to the technical work for my Blog it all went wrong. Every single Blog job I gave her she messed up and this was from someone that considered that they were a web expert. So, I was extremely disappointed but what bothered me most was the fact that I now had to get it all fixed.
She had done things like placing the wrong colour on my theme writing and putting a silly background colour on my about me picture. A lot of things that wouldn’t bother most people but drove me crazy – you may have even visited my Blog during this time and noticed a few errors on it.
She had damaged the HTML past my own levels of expertise so I ended up having to get in an expert to sort it all out. This then meant it had been two weeks since I had posted to my Blog and it made me feel like my routine had gone to pot!
In the end the new assistant had to re-load my Blog and do a lot of work just to correct her mistakes which is really sad that it would have to go to this point.
What it makes me realise is just how careful we have to be when it comes to our Blogs or websites. They are our bread and butter money so we should be really careful in case we end up losing them. Before she did the work for me I backed up all my Hostgator files just in case something went wrong.
I speak to people everyday that have had problems with their technical staff and the simple fact is, that we can not live without them and have to trust them in order to get our work done. With articles it doesn’t matter because if the article isn’t any good we can simply send it back for a re-write but with technology we don’t have the same opportunities.
I have many Blog fully completed now and I am very happy with it – but at least it is looking good and there is no lasting damage.
