Sometimes Just Throw Out The Rule Books!!

Most of the Warrior Forum readers know me by know and know that I'm a private investigator with a web site selling PI services. There are probably hundreds of thousands of web sites in my niche that all focus on the Reverse Phone Search, the search where you can get a name and address from an unlisted phone number.
In fact if you goggle "Reverse Phone Search" in quotes you get Results 1 - 10 of about 3,810,000 for Reverse Phone Search. OUCH!
Even the bravest of Internet Marketers will take one look, the blood will drain, they may go a bit dizzy and their hands will shake involuntarily as they hit the back button to find a safer keyword to compete in.
But what if we throw out the rules for a second and go ahead and write an article that addresses the subject. What if we don't even submit it to EZA?
Here's a quick case study.
I took that phrase that I normally cannot compete in and I wrote an article about reverse phone search. I did not post it to EZA but instead I posted it to an obscure article directory devoted to online dating.
To make a long story short In one week my article got over 1000 views and 250 click through's to my order form and another 30 orders were placed at $20 a piece. Of those 30 new clients 2 placed other orders for investigative services for a total return of $1600.
Not a bad return for a strategy that most would agree was doomed to failure before it even started. I guess the moral is that even in highly competitive niches you will find an audience, you can compete in a smaller ballpark and you will get a return.
