Google Adwords as an Advertising Tool for Your Business

Posted 03-21-2009 at 10:29 AM by Emmanuel Mba

The Adwords program was created by Google and is now one of their main sources of revenue with an annual profit ranging near $16.4 billion dollars in recent years. Google Adwords is a program that offers pay per click advertising, as well as site targeted advertising for text and banner advertisements. The Google Adwords program is maintained and managed in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Advertisements that use the Google Adwords program are dispersed over a local, national, and international advertising area. The advertisements that Google uses for their Adword advertisements are generally short advertisements which contain one or two sentences of text. The Adwords that use image advertisements can be numerous different sizes that are standard for the Interactive Advertising Bureau or IAB.

The Adwords advertisements that use pay per click advertising use words that are relevant to their advertisements and state how much they are willing to pay per click. Once this has taken place, when a user uses the Google search engine on the Google homepage and uses words that are relevant to the advertisements in their searches, the advertisements on the sides of the page will appear.

Placement targeted advertisements is the term which is now used to replace the old term that was formerly “site targeted advertisements.” Placement targeted advertisements was introduced by Google back in 2003. Advertisers can utilize the Adwords control panel to submit key words or phrases, subjects, or locations for Google to disperse the advertisement when a web site with similar content is being searched. When an advertiser opts to use placement targeted advertisement, it is common that advertisers choose to use one larger ad rather than split the ads up in to four different ads in order to have more users notice the ad. These placement targeted advertisements cost a minimum of twenty five cents per thousand impressions.

The distribution of Google Adwords advertisements are all eligible to be placed on the Google website. However, advertisers also have the option to choose to have their advertisements distributed on websites that are affiliated with Google. These websites disperse the Adwords advertisements just the same as Google would, just on their search engines.

The Google Adwords accounts can be managed easily. This is because Google Adwords accounts can be managed by search engine marketing agencies and consultants. These services are helpful to people who have a limited knowledge about advertising. Each consultant undergoes an exam and has to meet specific qualifications before they are permitted to become a consultant. Google provides users with a program called Adwords editor which also enables the advertiser to easily edit and manage their Adwords advertisements.

Google also provided a service known as Google Click to Call. Google Click to Call is a service which enables users to reach advertisers from the search result pages provided by the Google search engine by telephone. The service works by prompting the user to submit their number. Google places a call to the user and connects the user to the advertiser.
