How To Avoid Twouble In Twitterville

Seems like everyone has their rules these days.
* Red lights = stop.
* Lights out = sleep.
* On time = not 15 minutes late.
Wouldn’t it be nice if the Internet were completely rule free? Some people think it is, but they are mistaken. Even Twitter has its rules of conduct. Skip some of these and you will find yourself in need of creating a new account due to being shut down by those in authority.
Today, I’d like to tell you how to avoid twouble in Twitterville.
Okay, okay we are really talking about Twitter here. Twitterville is just my fancy name I created for this article, which will likely be, repeated in future articles.
Anyway, here we go.
#1: Don’t SPAM.
Most people today have gone far beyond understanding SPAM as some strange stuff you remove from a can. However, the common thought is that SPAM is something you receive in Email, so how does it work on Twitter?
Let’s say I have a golden widget that I know everyone wants to have as it will instantly transform their lives. Now that I have 1000 followers why not tell them about my treasure every 5 minutes. After all, I’m doing them a favor right?
And perhaps you are.
However, it will come out looking like a nuisance if every other tweet you send out is basically the same “Buy my golden widget.” The result will be that this gets reported to the Twitter controllers, and soon you won’t have to worry about getting your message out as you will have no account.
#2: Don’t auto DM your biz opp:
While doing so won’t get you banned from Twitter. Your reputation will go down hill fast. The only people you will find following you are robot accounts and even they won’t take a great deal of time to engage you. After all, they are robots.
Perhaps you would like to know what an “auto DM” is?
There are systems available that allow you to send an instant greeting to new followers. If my message is “Hi, I really care about you so buy my widget.” Instead of building a positive relationship with your new follower they get annoyed at the sales pitch and many will unfollow you as quickly as they follow you.
Here is my auto DM
Body By Chocolates Healthy Chocolate Home
Healthy chocolate Tworld welcomes U. All twittered tweets from tweeple R safe from twouble.
Notice that there is no marketing message above? It’s just a friendly greeting that people receive when they start to follow my BodyByChocolate account.
#3: 140 rules
You have a lot to say, and the world needs to know. However on Twitter you only have 140 characters to do so in. Using more than 140 characters makes you look like you don’t know what you’re doing. If you don’t know what your doing what credibility do you have for telling people about your widget?
There are other rules to success on Twitter. However following these 3 above ideas will help you to breeze by troubled waters and know how to avoid twoulble in Twitterville.
