FANTASTIC...OR "FAD"-TASTIC?

For all the years I have operated in this business there have been many great ideas and new revenue streams which have probably generated millions of $$$ online for those who were savvy enough to pick up the concepts and/or technology & software and run with it to successful conclusion.
However for every great idea that has been a success, there are many, many more which are complete fads and while all the hype would have suggested you buy and make gazillions with it...in reality it simply did not happen!! How many products are sitting in your download folder that you have read only once (if that) and quickly realised it was just a rehash of what you already knew or old ideas recycled poorly??
Are you toying with a new idea just now that you believe is a 'gem' and could make you a steady income on a recurring basis? If so you should get it down on paper/video (whatever is your bag!!) and create an offering to customers as they will definitely snap it up, if you position it properly.
However I would say proceed with caution as recently there was a major launch by someone who is regarded as a bit of a "guru" in IM and he has made a lot of money (serious $$$), however once product launched and it got onto the IM arena it was slated by many reviewers and he has been inundated with refund requests and really bad press!!!
Needless to say he has gone quiet in the IM arena for now however I'm sure he will resurface at some stage with a potentially superior product, having learned from this experience!!
Now while I am told there is no such thing a bad PR - (basically they say any PR is great PR) - I do believe attaching your name or brand to something that turns out to be nothing but a short term fad which only works once, is a tad dangerous, especially when you have very successful forums like Warrior Forum and the brilliant War Room to warn people away from your product.
Take your time preparing. Think it through and always ask "Would I buy this?", "Will the advertised benefits in the sales copy of the product actually come to fruition?", "Will these techniques stand the test of time or will there be a new, much easier and superior idea or technology available tomorrow?"
If your answers are YES!, YES!, YES! then you definitely have part of a winning formula on your hands. On the other hand if there are ANY answers with NO in them, tread carefully and don't say I didn't warn you.
Have a productive Friday!
