Copy Writing Rules of Thumb

Posted 10-07-2011 at 07:30 PM by ginia

Here are some factoids I've culled from my research:
Rules of Thumb:
  • You don't need to be a copy writing genius, just know to go to the great sources of heartfelt content such as Amazon reviews and borrow the headlines, sub-headlines (or subtitles) and take note of the BENEFITS a product has to offer.
  • It all boils down to humans wanting to avoid pain and gain pleasure in everything they do.
  • If you write as if you have great EMPATHY for the reader and his/her problems you'll have huge credibility (translates to sales).
  • Remind then every 6 or 7 lines what the benefits are - or about the pain they're trying to avoid. We all have short attention spans.
  • If you're writing about something you're passionate about, success will follow. Consciously or subconsciously, most people can tell when you're insincere.
