Let the History of Search Engines Inspire You
If you are looking for your major purpose in Internet Marketing, you can let some of the history of search engines inspire you.
Few people achieve greatness in their life or in their career. Most of us just plod along, hoping to keep our nose above water, perhaps hoping to achieve something at least a little above average.
Of course, we have all heard the gurus telling us that if we want to achieve greatness, we are going to have to do something out of the ordinary, think outside the box, push ourselves to the limit and beyond.
We will have to have a clear goal and a well defined plan to get us there. We will have to be focused and committed and we will have to maintain an unwavering faith and belief in our purpose and our vision.
It will help if we can come up with a unique product or service to market!
Many of us start out by selling products and services created and provided by others. That’s great for experience and to earn a few dollars, but the real money is in designing and marketing our own products, eventually getting others to do the marketing and selling for us.
I was reading the story of Google the other day and it is quite amazing and inspiring. Larry Page and Sergey Brin started the company in 1995 when they were college students. They couldn’t attract investors, so they scraped the money together to start the company on their own.
They had a vision for the purpose and the value of a search engine like Google and they believed in themselves enough to risk everything on the start-up. And it paid off!
Are you familiar with Google’s mission statement? Here it is: “To organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”
Wow! Can you imagine committing to such a broad purpose?
Why not use the story of Google to help you do some brainstorming of your own? What is your purpose? What kind of product or service would fulfill that purpose and how would you go about developing it so it is your own? What things can you do today that will move you closer to achieving that purpose?
Brian Tracy says that the key to achievement is simply imagining what is possible. If you can imagine it, you can find a way to make it real.
If you want to develop a multinational, publicly traded company like Google, a company that began in a rented garage, start dreaming, then wake up and turn the dream into reality. Others have done it. You can, too.
If you are interested, I have included a few more details about the early days of Google in my blog post, A Little Google Search Engine History. Let the history of search engines inspire you.
