Google News Blog Provides Inside Search Info

Do you know about the Google news blog, how it provides inside information and tips relating to search engine updates and more?

It’s not that I am a big Google fan or anything like that, but it’s like they say: Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. What I mean is, if you like Google, you will appreciate keeping up to date with the official Google blog. If you don’t like Google, well, you will still want to know what they’re up to so you know how to respond to updates and algorithm changes.

I’ve highlighted news from the Google blog a few times in my own home business opportunities blog. For example, I wrote about the recent page layout algorithm update in my blog post, Good Web Page Design Now Means Moving Ads Down.

As the title suggests, the ads you post on your websites will now be subject to even more critical analysis by the search engines; especially the positioning of your ads and the ratio of ads to quality content on a page.

If your content has value, is placed high on your page and is obvious or easy to find, the search engine may treat you kindly in the SERP (search engine results page) rankings. On the other hand, if you have too many ads too high on the page, and if your content is minimal or hard to find, your SERP rankings may fall.

Google says their aim with this page layout update is to improve the search experience for users. Google claims users have complained about the quantity and positioning of ads, as well as pages that make it hard to find the content.

What this all boils down to is that website owners will have to pay closer attention to providing quality content and making it immediately obvious the moment a visitor lands on a page.

Personally, I think this is a good thing. I’ve been to websites where I couldn’t find the information that I went there looking for after clicking a link that promised that specific info.

What do YOU think about this page design update? You can read my blog post, Good Web Page Design Now Means Moving Ads Down, for more about it.

Google is still a leader in the search industry, so whether you love ‘em or hate ‘em, it is a good idea to follow the Google news blog for search updates and other information ... straight from the horse’s mouth.
