Twitter Social Networking Platform the Same But Different
I was slow to begin using the Twitter Social Networking platform, but like many people, I now use it regularly for Internet Marketing and for personal socializing.
Twitter keeps evolving, just like all things Internet, but the basic idea remains the same: it is a micro-blogging platform that allows quick and easy communication between members of the network.
I’ve written more along these lines in my recent APC blog post, Free Social Networking With Twitter. In that post, I give some insight into why I like Twitter and how I use it. Also, a bit of an overview of the approaches different people take to the way they use Twitter.
Some people only use it only for basic socializing; some, exclusively for business and marketing; and others, a combination of both.
Some Internet Marketers use what I call “the rules of social marketing” where they balance their tweets with a mix of social tweets, informational tweets, and business tweets. After all, the whole idea behind any “social networking platform” is to be social. If all you do is tweet ads and promos for your products and services, other members might start ignoring you.
Hmm. Having said that ... I guess I need to work on my balance! There was a time when I made a daily effort to balance my tweets. Lately, due to a busy schedule, I think I’ve been leaning more towards the commercial end of the spectrum!
The other aspect to tweeting is the frequency of tweets. Some members post a few times a day or maybe only a few times a week. Others post frequently throughout the day.
If you tweet frequently, I recommend spacing your tweets out so they don’t show up in back-to-back strings in the timelines of other members. Some people find it annoying when one member dominates the Twitter airwaves in that manner.
However you approach your tweeting, the point I make here is that despite changes, past, present and ongoing, Twitter remains a very good social networking platform for Internet Marketers. It is quick and easy to use and you can post comments whenever you want. That is the element about Twitter that has stayed the same and, in my opinion, has helped it to maintain its value and popularity.
