My Online Search Engine Marketing Needs A Boost

My Online Search Engine Marketing Needs A Boost
Internet Marketers place a lot of emphasis on the value of online search engine marketing ... and MY efforts need a boost! Either my search engine traffic stats are down, or my referral stats are on the rise.
I check my website analytics daily and I’ve noticed that the percentage of referral traffic for my website has been greater than the traffic from search engines over the past month or two. That is different than it had been. The good thing is my total traffic volume has not dropped. In fact, it has been on the rise so far this year. But the percentage values have shifted.
That’s interesting, considering all of the search engine algorithm changes that have been happening of late. I am finding that some of my keywords are not doing as well as they had been previously in the search rankings.
Of course, like many other marketers, my tendency is to blame my stats on the algorithm updates, but to be honest, I probably need to step up my online search engine marketing efforts.
My goal for the early part of this year has been to increase the frequency of blog posts on my website and new articles for the directories. I’ve been doing well at that!
However, I now need to shift the focus of my article marketing a bit and place a greater emphasis on submitting to directories that let me link my articles to specific pages on my website. (Up until now, this year, the links in the resource box for the articles I’ve been submitting only point to my home page ... and that’s not how true article marketing works!)
One way to rank higher in the search engine results is to write a keyword-focused blog post or article on your own website, then write similar articles with similar keywords and submit them to article directories. The resource box for these articles must include a link pointing back to the blog post or article that you are highlighting on your website. Whenever possible, use the keywords from your blog or article as the anchor text in this link.
That is the process I plan to fire up soon to boost my online search engine marketing results! And then we’ll see if we can balance the percentages between search engine traffic and referral traffic.
