Becoming an Entrepreneur
Many people dream of becoming an entrepreneur. Not everybody is cut out to do it. Planning is important, but attitude plays a big role.
If you have aspirations to become an entrepreneur, working from home to build an Internet Marketing business, the first secret to success that you need to know is there are no secrets to success. Everything you need for home based web biz success is “out there” somewhere.
I remember reading a joke many years ago that carries with it a very strong element of truth. In essence, the joke states that the secret to success lies in making good business decisions. You learn to make good decisions through experience. And you get experience ... by making bad decisions!
The joke was a humorous reflection on the human condition. Another way to put it is, we learn by doing, and sometimes we learn best by doing it wrong, or by making mistakes.
Beneath the surface, the concept suggests that if we want to experience success, we have to do things to move in the direction of our goals and that means occasionally taking risks. Some risks will fail to produce the desired results and in those cases, all we can do is try to learn from the experience, modify our method and then continue to take steps forward.
The best way to accelerate our progress, and to reduce the number of “non-producing risks” that we take, is to seek out successful marketers and duplicate their methods.
This is not a fail-proof process.
We have to keep in mind that different things just naturally work different ways for different people. Results, or the speed of results, will vary between individuals. We each possess different skill sets and the learning curve to master a particular technique may be a bit steeper for one person than it is for another.
This is where attitude comes in. We need to have a crystal clear picture of our goals and a very firm commitment to becoming an entrepreneur or, rather, to becoming a successful entrepreneur no matter what it takes. The process can be slow and it can be tedious and frustrating at times, but if we are truly committed, we WILL make progress and we WILL achieve the goal.
The kind of attitude to be cultivated is one where rather than giving up when the going gets tough, we instead dig in harder to find the route around the obstacle or the challenge of the moment. You know what they say: winners never quit and quitters never win.
Stay committed. Focus on finding solutions, not reasons to give up or switch goals in mid stride. Even when others appear to be making greater progress than you, keep the faith, knowing that you are moving ever-closer to your goal. That is the real secret to success of becoming an entrepreneur.
Other qualities to consider in Becoming an Entrepreneur:
- Are you a self-starter? You will be responsible for creating your focus, making your plans, developing your projects and carrying out your tasks. How are you at time management, organizing your time and your schedule?
- Decision-making: Are you prepared to handle day-to-day decisions to help move your business forward? Nobody else can make the decisions for you. You are completely responsible.
- How strong is your work ethic? Can you put in long hours when necessary and give up other more enjoyable, relaxing or entertaining activities when required?
- Standard of Living: If your business does not take off as quickly as you planned, will you be able to adjust to a lower standard of living to carry you through the lean times? How will this affect your family?
Benefits of Becoming an Entrepreneur
There’s nothing like the feeling of running a successful, even a developing and promising business. It is a feeling that very few people experience working for someone else.
- You get to be your own boss.
- Your efforts benefit you, not some company.
- You are in complete control of your potential earnings.
- You get to choose what you do, so you can keep it interesting and exciting and something that you believe adds value to you, your family and the world around you.
Not everybody is cut out for it and there are challenges involved, but becoming an entrepreneur can be one of the most rewarding things you will ever experience. With the right attitude towards focus, commitment and responsibility, you can achieve great results with your own business.
