More Upsell Strategies For The Home Based Internet Business

A wise marketer will consider all options when planning and applying marketing techniques. Following up on yesterday’s blog post, here are a few more upsell strategies for the home based Internet business.
As mentioned in the previous web biz blog post, “upselling” is the process of attracting a potential customer with one offer, then suggesting an alternative item that is of better quality or has more features.
Typically, the alternative item costs more and produces a higher profit for the seller. However, both choices remain available and the customer is free to choose one or the other.
Below, you will find a few more suggested upsell strategies, these also taken from my Home Internet Business Tips Newsletter:
1. Time Upsell: If the product or service you are selling is by subscription, you could offer a discounted price if they subscribe for two years instead of one.
2. Quantity Upsell: This is similar to the Discount Upsell mentioned yesterday, however with the Quantity Upsell you increase the discount by how many products they order. For example, if they order three it’s a 10% discount, if they order five it’s a 15% discount.
3. Extra Upsell: Does your product have things you could charge extra for? Like custom designs, imprinting, gift wrapping? Offer the extras for a special price only available at the time they are purchasing the main item.
4. Extended Upsell: Some products come with a warranty. If your product comes with a warranty, ask your prospects if they would like to extend it for another year for a specified additional cost.
5. Affiliate Upsell: This is a common one within home based Internet business circles. When you’re selling a product you could offer someone else’s product as an upsell. The product upsell should be similar to the first item, but it should offer better quality or additional features and should provide you with an affiliate commission that is greater than the profit you would earn on the first item.
